Loratadine 10 mg
Mode of Action:
LORADAY is long-acting, non-sedating antihistamine with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonistic activity and does not have sedative effects at the recommended dose. Loratadine has no clinically significant sedative or anticholinergic properties in the majority of the population and when used at the recommended dosage.
Indications:
LORADAY is used for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria as well as other allergic dermatologic disorders.
Posology:
Adults and children ≥ 6 years: one tablet daily.
Precautions:
• Do not exceed the stated dose.
• Safety and efficacy of Loratadine in children less than 2 years of age have not been established.
• Used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment where dose adjustment should be considered.
Contraindications:
• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless prescribed).
Undesirable effects:
The most common side effects include headache, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders and dry mouth.
Pharmacokinetic properties:
• Loratadine is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral doses, peak plasma concentrations being attained in about 1 hour.
• Loratadine undergoes extensive metabolism. The major metabolite, desloratadine, has potent antihistaminic activity. Loratadine and its metabolites have been detected in breast milk.
• Most of the dose is excreted equally in the urine and feces, mainly in the form of metabolites.
Storage and disposal:
• Keep in a safe place, out of reach and sight of children.
• Store below 25° C. Protect from light.
How to use?
Adults and children ≥ 6 years: one tablet daily.
