What is Pantoprazole used for: Pantoprazole is a medication that belongs to a class of medications known as 'Proton Pump Inhibitors' (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It is used for the short-term treatment of adult patients with reflux signs and symptoms, such as regurgitation and heartburn. It is used for Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). GERD is a condition where the acid in the stomach washes back up into the esophagus and causes heartburn. It is also taken to prevent and treat stomach ulcers. This medicine may also be used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition where the stomach produces too much acid.
How to use?
How to take Pantoprazole: Adults: The recommended dose is one tablet (20 mg) orally once a day, or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. Children: Safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established yet in children under 18 years old. This medicine should be taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. Stop taking this medication when you feel completely relieved from your symptoms. Do not take the medication for more than 4 weeks if not recommended by your doctor. Take medication at the same time every day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not break or chew the tablet.
